Honor Societies
Students within the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences have many unique opportunities to become involved in academic honor societies in your major or minor.
These honor societies include:
- Phi Alpha
- Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society
- Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology – Coming Soon
- Pi Sigma Alpha: National Political Science Honors Society – Coming Soon
- Alpha Chi National College Honor Society
The Phi Alpha honors society is designed to give students majoring in Social Work special social and academic experiences. These opportunities help students to understand this special and important field of study and work. Some Phi Alpha members are also afforded the chance for unique travel/study/service programs and projects.

The Alpha Nu Zeta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta was established at UAM in 2007. This active student group are majoring in history are involved in service and social projects each year as well as historic tours to regional destinations. The Phi Alpha Theta chapter at UAM is a great way to get to know other history majors, and it is a venue to help you understand historians craft by attending conferences, making paper presentations, and getting to know your professors.
